What does your starbucks order say about your PeRsonality?

For those of us who failed to realize their dreams of becoming an Olympic figure skater (not bitter), no better professional event exists than marathon coffee drinking. AOL Jobs released a report awarding marketing/public relations as the fourth most coffee-dependent career. We PR people like our coffee like we like our retweets: constantly coming in, preferably, from Starbucks.

Since we’re willing to spend coveted American currency on a perishable cup o’ joe, clearly the drink of choice offers some insight into their personality. You could even call that latte the newest form of content marketing.

So what does your Starbucks say about you?

Hot vs. Cold

While sometimes this is a matter of personal preference, other times a drink’s temperature indicates something about the orderer. Someone ordering a hot drink is probably looking for comfort in the midst of the day’s hecticness. On the flipside, a cold drink points to a desire for adventure amidst an average day.

Size

Tall, grande, and venti are probably the most common sizes ordered at Starbucks. Someone ordering a tall most likely enjoys routine, structure, and control. A person holding a tall beverage says, “I’m in control of today, with or without this mere 12 ounces in my fist.” The grande orderer is somewhat laid-back: someone who is flexible and easygoing. A person holding a grande beverage says, “Today is a good day, especially with the help of 16 ounces of deliciousness.” The venti drinker lives by the adage “go big or go home,” and is equally bold and spontaneous. A person holding a venti beverage says, “I will land a placement in The New York Times Today today; 20 ounces of caffeine, you are mine for the taking.”

Type

To make things simple, we will split types of drinks into three categories: brewed coffees, latte-ish items, and frappucinos. Those who drink brewed coffee are sophisticates who prefer their caffeine “short, sweet, and to the point.” The simplicity of the plain coffee exudes the “less is more” philosophy, as these people tend to value the “no frills” lifestyle. Those who savor experience consume “Latte-ish drinks.” These prefer their caffeine to be only one aspect their coffee encounter. The artistry involved in making the latte-ish beverage reflects attention to detail, as these people value aesthetics in their lives. Frappucino drinkers are fun-loving and carefree. They could care less about caffeine content, and see their drink as a sweet kick-start to their next activity. The blended ingredients in the frapp point to a love of variety, as these people are attracted to an “out-of-the-box” way of life.

So what’s your drink order?
